Here at Cartography in Trinity we are always seeking to increase our capabilities. Currently we can produce high-quality paper, vinyl or other printed map products for all your planning and awareness needs. Do you need a custom made map? We got you! You want that map on a 3 dimensional model? Hey! We got you! We have the ability to use available terrain modeling data to build 3D printed models to scale. Currently we are working on Drone capabilities. Our goal is to have our own LiDAR capable drone by the end of 2026. With that we can collect elevation data and create the data for 3D modeling completely in house!
Where does the name come from? The short answer, lots of places!
The Trinity is the name of the flagship of the legendary pirate Bartholomew Sharp. Captain Sharp sailed the seas of the Caribbean capturing plunder and treasures abound. He is commonly believed to have been the first man to have sailed east around the Cape Horn. Perhaps what the disreputable renegade is most known for is not something one would typically expect from a buccaneer. Perhaps his greatest treasure of all was not made of gold or silver but ink and parchment. The Trinity, a great Spanish Galleon, was captured by Captain Sharp in the spring of 1680. In her hold was the most comprehensive collection of maps and charts any pirate had ever laid their eyes on. The collection was beautifully designed and incredibly accurate. The "Cartography in Trinity" was worth more than all the treasure in his holds.
The name is also a reflection of who we are, our roots and what we do. Our roots go back to Sharp's Renegades, a section of map makers in the United States Army. The word trinity is also a reflection of our work covering the three major battlefield domains, land, air and sea. The word Trinity is also a reflection of The Holy Trinity where we derive our morals and values as a company.
We are a company of renegade spirits who think outside the box and try to shake up the status quo. We break the rules of standard expectations to find new creative GIS solutions and go against the grain to find the ideas nobody has thought of. We also thoroughly enjoy ourselves in the process. We were born from the aspirations of old soldiers, the Sharp Renegades. We earned our experience and guile on the battlefields and we mapped the land, air and sea. Perhaps most importantly we believe that we are a part of something greater than ourselves. We are Cartography in Trinity.
